Our's is a bona fide Collector's Garden and contains thousands of trees, shrubs, grasses and other plantings -- many of them rare and unusual in growth habit, making this a truly unique garden and a MUST-SEE if you are in the Hood Canal area.
Situated on 5 acres, you will find a colorful Spring feast for the eyes that is largely comprised of early blooming rhodies and azaleas, various types of magnolias, four varieties of ornamental Japanse cherry trees, styrax, Dawn redwood, linden and European hornbeam, catalpa, flowering crab, weeping trees of several types (including European birch, purple and tri-color beech), exotic grasses and giant New Zealand flax, and a huge collection of evergreens.
As Summer comes on, you will enjoy the many varieties of Japanese maple leafing out, along with other deciduous trees. The Fall color is truly spectacular and includes liquidamber, tulipfera, Japanese maples (acer palmatum), sugar maples, heathers and pyrus.
Along our driveway you will see Leland cypress, red barberry, rock rose, Italian cypress, Stewartias, four varieties of bamboo, and a host of other interesting shrubs.
Our paths and lanes will allow you to discover things like pond cypress, bog iris, huge-leafed hostas, weeping arctic willow, sumac, golden chain, lilac, yellow- and red-twig dogwood, pink dogwood trees, red and pin oaks, redwoods and sequoias, and a host of annuals and perennials to provide year-round color and texture.
You will thoroughly enjoy spending time visiting these carefully chosen plants, listening to a multitude of local bird species, and may even spot our "pet" river otter and rival the water ouzel. Other area fauna include the famed Dosewallips Elk herd, regularly seen right in town.
