The Area around the Wasell Gardens

Wasell Gardens is located in the village of Brinnon, nestled at the foot of the spectacular Olympic range with glacier-clad Mt. Constance and Mt. Jupiter most prominent behind the town which is situated along beautiful Hood Canal. Along the beaches of the glacially-formed Hood Canal, you can dig for world famous clams and oysters

The area is home to the popular Dosewallips State Park and Campgrounds, and within 2 miles of the sportsboat marina and other water facilities at Pleasant Harbor -- as well as many other popular parks and hiking trails serving as a gateway into the Olympics and adjacent foothills. Also nearby is popular Camp Parsons, a premier Boy Scouts of America campground -- and just a short drive down the Hood Canal is the recreational area at Lake Cushman with its boating and 18-hole golf course.

Brinnon area is home to a resident herd of Roosevelt elk, numbering more than 100 animals at present. The herd is frequently seen in and around the town, park and campground areas year-round. Other Olympic Peninsula area wildlife includes waterfowl of many varieties, both bald and golden eagles, otters, deer, beavers, mink and martins, wild rabbits, and an occasional cougar.

Brinnon hosts an Annual Shrimp Fest that draws visitors from far and wide, featuring assorted activities for the entire family -- including Garden Party at Wasell Gardens. For additional information about the Shrimp Fest, visit their website at ShrimpFest.net.
