Everyone has to answer a couple of very important questions sometime along the road of life. One is, "Where will I spend eternity?" and the other "What am I living for in life anyway?" Even I had to answer these very important questions. You may be a good person ~ you may think that everything's going fine in your life. Or you may already recognize your need to be saved. But today I want to ask you, "Do you know Jesus?" and "Are you sure you're on your way to heaven?" Having a personal relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has changed my life and He continues to change me from the inside out each day. One of the best things about knowing Jesus is that I have the assurance that I'm going to heaven and I want to live for Jesus every day of my life. I want to know Him better and better all the time. You can too !
I can tell you from experience that knowing Jesus is the best thing you'll ever do. He will be better to you than your best friend and its as simple as accepting Him as your Savior and Lord.
Romans 10:9-10 AMP says, "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation."
Jesus came to earth to die on the cross for the sins of the world. He died for my sins and He died for yours. The Bible says in John 3:16 Amplified,
"For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten [unique] Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life."
That means that God loves you and He loves me so much that He even gave up His Son to die on the cross so we can be forgiven of our sins and live with Him forever, for all eternity.
Choosing Jesus and choosing to be a Christian is just that, a choice. Its a very important choice and everyone has to make it, one way or the other. God is so kind and good, He will never force His plan of salvation on anyone. But Jesus truly is the Only Way to God and the Only Way to heaven.
Jesus said in John 14:6 AMP, "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me."
God sent His Son to redeem us from our sins. It is the Best Gift you'll ever receive. And God's Gift is a FREE Gift. You and I don't and can't ever do anything to deserve it. It is by God's grace and His mercy that we can be saved. Romans 6:23 says,
"For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord."
And again, Ephesians 2:8 says, "For it is by free grace (God's unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;"
All we have to do is come to God, confess our sins and receive Jesus into our hearts by faith. 1 John 1:8-9 Amplified says,
"If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts.]
If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought and action]."
Its important also to make your decision at this time when God is talking to you in your heart. Don't put it off and say I'll make my decision sometime or maybe I'll become a Christian tomorrow. That path is a miserable path to take. God is talking to you today. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:2, "....Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance [of you from God]; behold, now is the day of salvation !"
If you are ready to receive Jesus in your heart, all you have to do is pray this simple prayer and mean it with all your heart:
Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. Forgive my sin. Cleanse me in your Blood. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins. I ask you to come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. I confess you as my Lord and Savior. Help me to follow You and live for You for the rest of my days. I love You, Lord Jesus ! In Jesus' Name, Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer, welcome to God's family! You are now a Christian ~ a born again Child of God ! Congratulations is not enough to describe how happy I am for you. All of heaven is rejoicing because You have turned to The Lord Jesus Christ !
Jesus said in Luke 15:7,
"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
The Journey Ahead
To grow in your faith, remember to read your Bible and talk to God everyday. I encourage you to continue to seek God and let Him lead you on the right path. You've just started on the best journey of your life ! I will see you in heaven some day ! I am praying for you. Always remember, Jesus LOVES you !
